NeoCarbon and Carbonaide Permanently Stored Captured CO₂ in Concrete

NeoCarbon and Carbonaide, a pioneer in carbonization technology for the production of precast concrete, announced a partnership to efficiently capture CO₂ from the atmosphere and permanently store it in concrete.

The two companies connect complementary ends of the carbon removal chain: NeoCarbon captures CO₂ directly from ambient air using low-grade industrial waste heat, and Carbonaide mineralizes that CO₂ in precast concrete, binding it in the material itself, where it stays locked away. The aim is to deliver high-quality carbon removal credits, with the first delivery expected in 2025.

"Our goal is to address the urgent need for effective carbon capture solutions in the concrete industry, we aim to transform concrete production into a carbon sink," said René Haas, then Co-Founder & CEO of NeoCarbon.

Mineralization in concrete is one of the most durable storage pathways available today: once the CO₂ has reacted into the material, it does not return to the atmosphere. For NeoCarbon, the partnership demonstrates a complete chain from air to permanent storage, captured with waste heat, stored in the built environment.
